A: Zinio is the world's newsstand and bookstore. With
its many digital products and services, Zinio creates better ways for
people to discover published content, get more of it and do more with
it. Now, readers can purchase content once to be read on any screen.
Zinio provides the ability to shop for, search inside, read, share and
save digital content in 23 local newsstands in any country in the
world. Through the ZINIO UNITY™ reading platform, readers can move
seamlessly within each publication page between text, interactive
graphics, animated illustrations, videos and much more. Offering
hundreds of thousands of the best digital titles, Zinio's e-stores and
applications are revolutionizing reading. Founded in 2001 and privately
held, Zinio is headquartered in San Francisco and has offices in New
York, London, Paris, Barcelona and Taipei.
A: Rest assured, we are always scouring the magazine
landscape for great new titles to make available to our customers. As
you can see from our newsstand, we have gotten a lot of publishers on
board with Zinio! If there is a title that you would like to see
available through Zinio, please contact the publisher of that magazine
directly to let them know that there is customer interest in receiving
their content through Zinio.
A: Your download times will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection and the size of the publication. In order to maintain a high quality viewing experience, it is necessary for the publication file to reach a certain size.
The reading experience is best after the publication has been fully downloaded, although it is possible to read while downloading. Once an issue has completed downloading (you can tap on the screen to see a blue horizontal bar showing your download progress), the responsiveness of the app will be noticeably better and the publication will be viewable offline.
Zinio recommends you use WiFi for downloads when you can, as opposed to 3G, since WiFi is faster.
A: If you have downloaded a publication and want to delete it to free up space on your device, tap "Edit" at the top of the app, then tap the 'X' icon in the middle of the publication you want to delete. Once you confirm, the downloaded publication will be deleted. Tap "Done" to return to your Library. The deleted publications will need to be downloaded again in order to view.
If you want to remove a thumbnail from being displayed in your Library:
1. Go to Zinio.com
2. Sign in
3. Click on "My Library"
4. Click the "Edit" button that appears above the top row of thumbnails
5. Click the "Remove" button for any issues you want to remove
6. You're done! Simply restart your Android device and the removed issues will no longer be displayed in your Android app Library.
A: There may have been a problem with your initial attempt to download this publication. Please delete and restore the issue to view it.
From your Library, tap "Edit" at the top of the app, then tap the "X" icon over the publication you want to delete. Once you confirm, the issue will be deleted. Tap "Done" to return to your Library. The publication will start downloading again the next time you open it.
A: Zinio must abide by the guidelines set forth by Google in order to have our app available in the Android Market. One of those guidelines currently prohibits content deemed mature. We are sorry that certain titles are not currently available on the Android. They are, however, viewable on Zinio.com or by installing the Zinio Reader on a conventional laptop or desktop.
A: The
publishers that partner with Zinio consider digital subscriptions as
separate from print subscriptions. If your preference is for the
digital version, you can contact the publisher to have them switch your
subscription to digital, if they have that capability. If not, simply
cancel your print subscription and purchase a new subscription through
Zinio.com.
When you contact the publisher, don't mention
"digital" until they locate your account. Ask to simply "verify my
subscription". They'll ask for your zip code and last name. Once
they've found your account they can give you details. If they can
switch your account to digital, be sure to provide the SAME email
address that you've used to create your Zinio account with. Future
issues will be delivered digitally. Please remember that it can take up
to 4 weeks for the switch to occur. If you miss any issues during that
time, please contact Zinio by clicking here to request that they be added to your account.
A: Yes! When you purchase something through Zinio—whether it is from the Android app or Zinio.com—you can view it on
any of our supported operating systems and devices or directly on
Zinio.com (Adobe Flash required).
A: If you are getting a message that you need to "Upgrade your Android app," do the following to avoid getting the message again:
1. Go to your Library
2. Tap "EDIT" from the top toolbar (or Menu Button -> "delete")
3. Delete any partially downloaded issues (typically shows as having a small size ~0.0MB)
4. Press the "Home" button
5. Press Menu Button -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Zinio
6. Tap "Force stop." Your problem should now be resolved.
A: If there is a title that you own that you don't see in your Library, please give it some time. Our entire library of tens of thousands of issues will soon be available for the Android!
We are working diligently to offer access to our entire catalog of thousands of magazines and books—including back issues—soon. For the most current available titles, please open the Zinio Android app and tap the "Shop" button at the top of the screen.
A: You can change your billing information by going to Zinio.com > Account Settings or by clicking here.
A: Not at this time. If you own a Nook Color, your ability to use the Zinio app in the future will depend on Barnes & Noble adding the Zinio app to the "Nook Apps" store (the default configuration of the Nook Color does not allow installing apps directly from the Android Market).
